Cranes and Lifts require specially designed motors for frequent start/stops and reversing.  The motors are designed for specific duties viz. S3, S4 or S5 as per Indian / International standards.  The following information must be furnished to enable proper selection of motor.

Cyclic duty factor (CDF)
Load GD sq. at motor speed
 
Geared Crane motors as well as Crane duty motors with brake are also often required and are supplied against customer requirement.
